The SuperGen Marine Energy Research Consortium is nearing the end of year two of its second phase. You are invited to participate in the second Annual Assembly, which will summarise progress and future direction.

Participants will be able to:

•     learn about recent and new research outcomes,
•     engage with the objectives of the programme,
•     hear of progress with the SuperGen Doctoral Training Programme,
•     gain an insight into the objectives of the new EU FP7 MARINA Project,
•     browse an extensive poster exhibition and meet doctoral students over lunch,
•     network with consortium members, partners and sector-wide colleagues.

SuperGen Marine 1 has secured continuation funding for four years from October 07. Partners and collaborators of the SuperGen Marine Consortium will be invited to attend this showcase event, which will summarise highlights and achievements of the programme to date and describe future challenges that it will address.

Attendees can
• learn about recent and new research outcomes,
• hear of the outcomes successfully applied in the sector,
• browse a poster session and meet the whole team over lunch,
• engage with the new objectives and structure,
• explore opportunities for further collaboration,
• discuss their interests with the team-leaders.

 SuperGen Marine workshop, 19-20 June 2006, Oxford
collaborators.pngThe six monthly SuperGen Marine workshop on 20th June 2006 was held in Oxford, at St Anne’s College, with the internal SuperGen meeting for academics and RAs held at St Anne’s the day before on 19th June. Attendance of collaborators and public on the 20th was by invitation only because places were limited. There was a series of themed talks, with PG poster presentations at lunchtime.

The event was organised by the UK Energy Research Centre. Please read the detailed programme for 20th June.

 Charting a Course for Marine Energy
mct_square.jpgOn the 29th of September 2004 the SuperGen Marine energy consortium celebrated its 1st birthday with a highly successful seminar in Edinburgh entitled "Charting a Course for Marine Energy".

Marine renewables have the potential to make a significant contribution to UK renewable energy production and can help to meet the Government’s ambitious target of a 60% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Marine renewables also provide a rare opportunity for the development of new markets for UK manufacturing and services industries.
